I have upgraded it from linux before using the web based interface .

The dg834 is in fact a linux box itself , its a MIPS-malta running linux
2.4.17 .
There is a debug mode which allows you to telnet (urrgh) into
it and examine the contents , the firmware is basically a kernel and a
cramfs filesystem.
I haven't tried patching it yet for fear of killing my lovely router but
sometime soon the lack of usefull logging is going to piss me off and
i will patch it .
