[Gllug] Sarge DVD et alia

The current issue of Linux Magazine included a DVD containing
Debian Sarge which I want to install on a 'new' box. I have an updated
Sarge on another box, but at present no longer have access to a fast
ADSL connection, so I'm trying to install from the DVD and have
reached an impasse. I always boot my installed OS's from floppies
and find that the DVD does not give me the option to create a boot
floppy. When I have downloaded an .iso and burned it to CD, the new
installer gives me the option to create a boot floppy. I don't understand
how or why Linux Magazine has taken away this option.

The shell available in the installer does not help as 'mkboot' is not
supported.

I can get at the base install (before reboot) by mounting the partition
it is
on in knoppix, but I seem unable to make a boot floppy that way or even
create lilo on a floppy.

Has anyone any suggestions or help to offer (I intended to ask someone at
the Meeting on Saturday, but that's now off).

As an aside, I'm also trying to run 'fsck' on an installation of Gentoo
that I
cannot get into. Can some kind soul say how I can temporarily change 'rw'
mounting to 'ro' so that 'fsck will run.

I'd appreciated assistance. John.
