I'd bee using the instructions for building the Kernel found here
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Kernel-HOWTO.html but if I put the
'make clean' just before the make 'bzImage' as described in the RH EL
documentation it worked fine and the performance in now excellent.
