[Gllug] Freecom USB Classic HDD warning

Talking about Freecom,
in a moment of weakness I bought a Freecom external
DVD re-writer in PC World. 
I couldn't help it. It looked at me with big puppy eyes...

Anyway, works fine under Linux. Plug it in, and K3B writes fine to it.

What I'd like to aks is if anyone is a MacOS 9 expert.
The iMAC I have runs 9.2.2 - and has been just doing its thing
for four years. Quite happy with it.
I plugged the Freecom in and it does appear, but it is noted that
the Mac can;t burn anything to it.
I guess it is just too new to have MacOS drivers.
