You could possible manipulate your own arp table using arp -s to specify 
an IP address to communicate with the machine.

I have bought a lot of sun kit from this fellow: 
http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/  he also sells on ebay and I bought a 
lovely external SCSI cdrom.  The sun box will boot from the CD ROM drive 
as long as it is set to ID 6.
