In the HPC/Beowulf world the sweet spot is at 2-way systems.
Lots and lots of dual Xeosn or dual Opterons.
I can't recall anyone speccing single CPU systems.

Four-way Opterons are on the market too, and will be making big inroads.
You have to cool the things though...
