[Gllug] Is it just me or is www.hmce.gov.uk broken?

You would still need to be telling your web server that files with 
extension 'lmth' are of mime type text/html.  I think Apache sends 
text/plain by default if it doesn't know what else to do.  (That is, 
Apache needs to know what the extension is - in my setup in 
/etc/apache2/conf/mime.types, but Opera shouldn't need to)
