It's a VIA EPIA 800 Mini-Itx board in a Cubid case.
The last time a machine had similar NFS problems, I chased it down to a
VIA RHINE network port that had gone flakey - inserting a no-name PCI
RTL-8139 card fixed the problem instantly.
(Doing ping -f <server> on the client, and ping -f <client> on the
server, helped a lot to track that one down)
This time, I remembered that I hadn't added the Magic Wire - from the
motherboard screw nearest the PS/2 port to the case screw holding the
CD-ROM drive in.
Magic wire added - problem fixed.
