I think you're right -- in the version of ttpci-eeprom.c in linux-dvb 1.1.1 they added
MODULE_DESCRIPTION("Decode dvb_net MAC address from EEPROM of PCI DVB cards "
"made by Siemens, Technotrend, Hauppauge");
