If you don't like java perhaps because it's a bit heavy or beacuse it's not
free and doesn't fit so well into linux maybe it would be worth looking at
python/zope? I'm pretty sure zope included cms like funtionality.
I can see why java CMSs might be more polished due to the ease of scaling
larger projects and fanastic library support.
can't give any specific recommendations i'm afraid. I rarely go beyond the
wiki arena.

:) Not especially! I'd rather not have to use it but it seems the best
CMSs I've found all tend to require Tomcat or Resin. I imagine it's
because they do funky stuff with XML (nope, don't want to have that
jihad either! ;) and Apache's XML tools seem to be Java-based.
Perhaps I'll start a new thread...
