Network-attached photocopiers do this - the Canon iR3100C here and the
iR2200 in another office both allow you to scan over the network can
come with a TWAIN driver for Windows to let you do it. I haven't yet
found out if it's possible to use them from within SANE though..

I think they also have a web server embedded into them which allows you
to download scanned images as files, so maybe nobody bothered to code up
a sane plugin.
