re: Inland Revenue inevstigative powers  vs HMC & E

Now that the Inland Revenue and HMC & E are being merged, does anyone know
what powers the new merged outfit will have?

Customs Officers have historically had the power to enter any premises during
daylight hours (and I believe accompanied by a Police Officer at night) without
a warrant.  Frightening if this power should extend to the Inland Revenue side
of things as well!
