The problem with SIP and Astrax etc is that they are too complicated
and not easy to set up and use.
Skype has good sound quality and its man in the street proff.
Hense Skype already has more users than these alternatives. Its like
why Jabber has not taken off, Give the user too much choice and they are
scared. Its also why Windows still has such a large home user share. Its
servered to people on plates and they think this is it.

True - BUT....
Firefly can be used just like Skype being installed to use the verbiage
network, I think the only downside is that skype has been firewall/NAT
support although I might be wrong.
Asterisk isnt too hard to install really and the hardware to interface it
with a pots line is about £9.99 these days from www.goods2world.com.
Oh and skype done by the untrustworthy people that did kazaa and would you
trust them - hmm I think Not!
