Depends whether you're actually doing something on it (or
alternatively, use KDE ;). ThinkPad R40 laptop.

For the desired effect set up cron to execute a little shell script
with stuff like "w" in it, to overwrite your sig file every minute or
whichever interval you prefer (in granularity of minutes).
