It should have taken ~700, but as one data channel failed, they only received ~350 AFAIK. But you're right, it is odd.  Maybe it's the ESA's institutional slowness: NASA are far far better at PR, to the great frustration of the ESA scientists. (I think Oliver Morton has some stuff to say about this in http://mainlymartian.blogs.com/semijournal/ )
