With a 3ware the drives aren't displayed as seperate to the OS...
(most raid controllers don't do that either)

But... smartctl actually has a way around that with older 3ware cards.
(8000 series and below, doesn't work with 9000 series yet)

You can specify 3ware and probe individual drives with it, read the man
page.
