Hi John,

I did try all the broadcast ping stuff, nothing worked...

I eventually managed to get a console adapter up to Scotland and get someone to patch things up. The Cyclades was configured OK and the fault was eventually traced to a faulty patch cable once I insisted that they use a different cable and network switch.

Thanks for the tip on using minicom, I've not seen it before and it worked a treat. I now have another route to the cyclades box it something happens to it again.
