On the windows machine I use Gossiptel www.gossiptel.com as it allows
incoming calls (to a 0870 number) from a normal phone, and when I
looked at skype it didn't allow non VoIP calls. (Admittedly a while
back it may do now)

You can call any Gossiptel or sip phone user for free. One can have a
pay as you go plan for normal uk/international calls at competitive
rates.

It's got a install for mac osx which may be useful to some of you chaps.
