If it's gtk then it's a big step forward from Motif, which is what
they appeared to be using last time I tried out acroread.

Gtk is a perfectly reasonable toolkit, wide range of widgets, bindings
for many languages, small, and (with a little tweaking) can be made to
look good.  I say small - the toolkit itself is small, but GNOME seems
to add a huge amount of extra bloat.  We write cross-platform (Windows
/ Linux) commercial apps in Objective CAML using Gtk.
