[Gllug] RAID on laptop or xfs?

Hi everyone, I have a mini dilema,

Recently I've noticed that I've been getting rather alot of filesystem errors
on my toshiba portege laptop, the disk passes badblock scans and seems happy
after a fsck, unfortunatly it has been loosing files (thus far nothing debian
hasnt fixed).

I have a suspicion that this is related to some kernel dev stuff ive done
recently (lots of crashes).

anyhoo, what are people's thoughts on either having two mirrored partitions on
the same drive (and use ext3,rieser or xfs) or just using xfs?
