If all you want to see is aggregrate incoming bandwidth used, I believe
most ADSL routers will tell you how many packets they have received since
rebooted.  If you asume each packet is the max size allowed over ADSL this
might give you a very rough idea of how much data is coming in to your home.
Exceedingly crude, but it might at least be a starting point!
