We are going to dual-boot a couple of P3's first so that he can play with
Linux, although he does not expect to use them again with M$.
He may receive some files via the internet, others are generated locally,
and they are passed between different machines over a local network to do
the work as quickly and easily as possible. For example, he has demonstrated
how he can switch on and complete more than one complex operation on his old
300MHz Acorn RISC PC in the time that his superfast Pentium 4 with 1GB of
RAM takes to boot up M$ XP. Some jobs can be done in a fraction of the time
it takes to use an Apple, which may crash anyway. He intends to run several
database and server applications, learn as much as possible about Linux
to gain even more options, and with luck dump M$ entirely.
(You may have noticed that I am still using my RISC PC, now possibly
about 15 years old).
