   Ouch! That was the problem!. ssh -2 dest_machine did the job.

I thougt ssh client would first try version 2, and then version 1.
   I've tried generating RSA keys, and work directly (no need to tell
ssh -2). Thanks, that issue was a long-ago TODO, and never got time to rtfm.
