Linux isn't especially difficult, in fact for some things it's a damned 
sight easier than dealing with Windows.  CUPS makes printing with Linux 
easier than that Windows in many cases.  I have two rules about choosing 
printers:

1) Don't buy anything with a USB interface
2) Don't buy an inkjet
