Nightmare.

Maybe I should cease this hobby of mine.
Installing Linux around the neighbourhood.

So many peripherals are Microsoft specific.
And its not like someone is purchasing a system from scratch where you
can then taylor for the best of Linux-compatible hardware.

This is scary because it will be a major hindrance to people adoption
of Desktop Linux.

I am well aware there is a way of making BT Voyager working
http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/
But the computer of the neighbour is here, and my ADSL connection is PPPoAtm
The connection at my neighbour is AOL !!
Even their monitor is Linux-unfriendly so at one stage I will have to
bring that too in - to get it synched.

Similarly having trouble making their Creative VideoBlaster Webcam Go
Plus working.

Again I am well aware they've opened up their sources:
http://opensource.creative.com/

But looks like noone managed to make this specific gadget work.
If only I could hack device drivers ...

I am so near giving up ..
Meaning
Getting the lady to buy a router / ethernet card instead.
But then she will complain how poor she is .. etc

For this family - I've installed Debian (my first time installing Debian).

If anyone had any success with BT Voyager 100 with AOL
or worse happens to make an obsolete Creative VideoBlaster Webcam work
please share ...

Alternatively if anyone has a router / ethernet card, that don't mind donating.
Please let me know.

regards

Henry
