I vaguely recall it being a module in the Kernel 2.6.14

But I am getting the feeling there is only one type of ADSL USB Modem
that people ever got it to work: Alcatel SpeedTouch ...

Anything else - is theoretically possible only
(practically: next-to-impossible.)
