[Gllug] Why are ISPs so stupid?

Dear Simon,

I don't think that they're stupid; it's more a case of
saving costs.

My broadband went down on Monday with my ADSL Router
reporting that the PPP test was failing.  How do I contact
my supplier (PlusNet) without a working browser?  Their
complete problem solving system depends on completing web
pages.  Not a phone number in sight!  Luckily I was able to
direct my wife through the numerous stages over the phone,
but others may not be so lucky.
