[Gllug] MP3/Ogg player hardware?

I read your thread about your iRiver iFP-899.

I bought an iRiver iFP-895 (512MB) and received it yesterday.  When I
plugged it into my laptop's USB port nothing happened.  It appears from
your post that I need to change the firmware in it so that I can mount it.
Can you give me any details about how to do this, please?  I am fairly new
to linux and my knowledge of bash commands is fairly limited (although I do
know how to mount drives).  My distro is Linspire 5-0.  Any help you can
give me would be greatly appreciated.
