[Gllug] Second time resolution question

In best attempt at technical questioning style :)
I have a small home network behind a BT Voyager wireless router/ADSL
modem. I have several clients attached and am running a DHCP server on
the router. I frequently find during web browsing that a 404 page comes
up on first browse to a site, but hitting "Refresh" brings the site up
fine. I also noticed today that I got a bounce when sending a mail to a
new domain, but an immediate resend of the email got through fine. So I
am assuming this is a transient DNS resolution error.
In one of the linux clients, I have set resolv.conf with one line only:
nameserver 172.16.0.1 (the address of the router) and this is a static
file not changed by the DHCP settings. So it seems to be a router
problem rather than anything else.
Anyone any ideas how to track this error down further?
Thanks,
jack
