Have you tried mplayer with the dumpstream option?

If that doesn't work, and you don't mind the entire wmv file, something like

mplayer -dumpstream \ 
mms://ms.groovygecko.net/groovyg/clients/akqa/hydepark/hyde001_hb.wmv

should get it in this case.

Then at least you will have a file you can play with.
