I've not seen it crash at this point but I have seen the preview
suddenly grow to extend outside the preview box although that might have
been on the schedule page not the recording library page.

I have seen this too and I've also seen it crash at the aspect ratio
change while watching if you happen to jump forwards or backwards to
exactly that point.

The aspect change stuff is a lot better than it used to be though, at
least now it uses the information in the stream and adjusts the display
to the correct ratio.  It's also now used as part of commercial flagging
apparently.
