Hi ,

Here are the details of the next meeting for Lonix,

Date: Wednesday 5 Oct 2005
Time: 6pm onwards
Place: Champion - 1 Wellington Terrace W2 4LW - 0207 792 4527
Map: http://tinyurl.com/2nta9
Nearest Tube: Notting Hill Gate
Phone: 07980 224772

This month we'll be going to the Champion in Notting Hill Gate.
Which is a stone's throw from Olympia2 where the LinuxWorld
Expo show is happening this month on the 5th and 6th October.
If you are going to come along to the show you must register
to gain free entrance, which will be 15 on the door!
http://www.linuxworldexpo.co.uk

We'll meet up at the end of the show on the 5th October at 5.00pm
at the Lonix stand and go down in a group. If you're going there
on your own the nearest tube is Notting Hill Gate and it's a short
walk to the Champion. On exiting the station head towards the
Waterstones/Rymans direction. You'll see the Champion on your left.

We have the entire downstairs and beer garden reserved for us. A
variety of fine ales and beers are served as well as a huge
selection of reasonably priced food, from sausage and mash to
cray fish.

Thanks to uklinux.net we have a stand at this years Linux World
Expo and if you'd like to help out on the stand drop me a line.
We'll be flogging more Lonix Polo Shirts and handing out User
Group propaganda to brain wash anyone who dares to walk by!
We need help for the 5th and/or 6th.

  LDAP Schema Design

  Dr Andrew Findlay
  Skills 1st Ltd

  Thursday 22nd September, 6.45pm
University College London (Cruciform Building, Lecture Room 2),
  Gower Street, London WC1E 6AE.

It is possible to make one LDAP directory serve many applications in
an organisation. This has the advantage of reducing the effort
required to maintain the data, but it does mean that the design must
be thought out very carefully before implementation starts.
Schema is the term used to describe the shape of the directory
and the rules that govern its content. This paper takes the
  reader through the
schema design process from requirements capture to tree layout to
entry design. Some traps and pitfalls along the way are discussed, and
an example design is sketched out.

This is open to all - just turn up, no need to register.
[It follows the UKUUG AGM at 6.15pm.]

Also on Thursday, IBM invites you to a free launch event
for their Linux OpenPower Project at the London Planetarium.

You can register free for this event with free food and drinks
at http://www.openpowerproject.org/uk
Alternatively, if you don't want to fill in the OpenPower web
registration form, simply send your name & email address
directly to Tony Stimson <Tony_Stimson at uk.ibm.com>.
