Powers up, all the fans spin the power button lights but no beep and no
output. Pretty clear I've broken off a pin because I put the CPU in with
the wrong orientation and the pin got stuck in what appears to be a
smaller hole (the CPU - a Celeron - has no pins at all where that pin
broke off).

Put it down to experience I suppose.
