[Gllug] Centos x64 install woes

                    Hi All,

I am trying to install Centos using the cover DVD from Linux Magazine. I managed this fine on a PIII using the x86 install and am now trying to install it on an Athlon 64. The machine boots from the DVD and gets to the install screen where you can choose what version you want to install (e.g. x64, xi86, x64 test, etc.), but no matter what option I choose, the install begins and stops at /sbin/loader.

I have tried reducing the memory, and disconnected all hardware except the graphics card and IDE drives. I have checked the disk previously on the other machine on which it installed and it appears to be fine.

The motherboard is an MSI K8N Neo and I have 3 x 512MB memory installed (PC3300). Has anyone got any ideas?

I am currently running a 'memtest' on the offending machine and have noticed that it recognises the processor as a Sempron 2211.

 Regards,

Ian
