I would not trust Visa and master card anyway we authorize via the
phone still (its telesales) we would use the computer to do it but
they want to charge us extra and it makes life easier to get it done
in the good old fasioned way if they are going to charge extra to use
there new improved security "features" We don't use the code on the
back or address checking both of which we would love to do. But I've
spent 12 months arrguing with Barclays and in the end gave up!
Anyway when we phone visa/mastercard (its the same number and merchant
number) we mostly either get to talk the most dopy computer on the
planet or get to talk to a human or get the message "If your
transaction is for £1000 or less please autorize with the code X6965"
On the other hand if we phone American Express we get a more comitent
computer that is nice and quick and always take all the details and
then a two digit code, it feels more like they might check somthing
anyway.
So in short Chip and pin solves nothing if its still cheaper for most
retails to do it the old fashioned way and thouse swipe machines with
carbon sheet still exsist and are still in use!
