The one FM transmitter which my friend had, attached to his iPod
through the headphone connector.  In other words, I strongly suspect
that it would work fine on any MP3 player.  You used special MP3s to
configure it (eg. set the channel), and I suppose those could be
loaded on to any MP3 player too.

Does your car have a tape player?  Another friend of mine has a
line-out to tape cassette adapter.  Quality is crap - in particular
the two stereo channels seem to be inverted - in any case there is
sometimes no "central" sound on certain songs.  But it does work.
