The old question - don't work in what sense?  Don't burn?  Don't boot?
Don't install?  Don't run once installed?

I started with AAH, but abandoned it quite quickly because it requires a
dedicated server running RH-ish Linux and all my other stuff is Debian.
I also wanted Asterisk to run on a shared server, because I see little
point in having a dedicated box for one POTS line and a few VoIP calls.

I kept a journal of the process of installing Asterisk on Sarge.  It
isn't either long or complicated and I did a fresh installation on a new
box the other day in less than half an hour, just following the steps
one by one.  You can have a copy if you like.
