This mis-understanding exists not just with software licencing. I
recently published a case study of how we used FOSS here. I published it
under a Creative Commons attrib-no-derivs licence. Somebody wanted to
use it on their site and phoned me to ask if they could adapt/summarise
it (apparently mine was too long). They said they were phoning to ask
because I had "quite restrictive copyright" on it.
I pointed out that the CC licence was less restrictive than copyright
and asked them to send me their proposed adaptations which I would then
review. To this they said "oh - is *that* it?" :o)
cheers
