you need to actually speak to someone @ Redhat and also the Vendor you
have in mind. you're going to get your foot shot off in a rather nasty
manner otherwise.
in brief: the reason why Oracle is asking you to run Redhat is because
they specifically expect you to have Redhat support taking care of OS
and first layer issues - so they dont need to.
the Redhat software is available, in SOURCE format freely. So I presume
you intend to download and rebuild the entire distribution, then get
patches and do builds + testing + fixing on your own, for each package.
( CentOS might work here, but you dont want to use CentOS ... )
btw, it might interest you..... Oracle _do_ run support for people who
run CentOS - but quite clearly state that the user is on his own, if its
an OS / first layer issue they come across.
