With regard to CVS instead of a 'safe delete'   - a case of horses for courses
I think.

A safe-delete program installed for users to invoke instead of the standard
'rm'  saves an awful lot of grief when someone deletes a file and then tells
you two weeks later than they realy need it after all !   and the overhead
involved is absolutely minimal.


as for pulling the plug from the wall  - not very practical for a multi-user
system !
