Hello,

I do not know who made the original contact for the talks, but we have
heard nothing since. The decision to cancel the meeting was made at very
short notice because of this lack of information.

Would people on the list have preferred an ad-hoc practical meeting to
have gone ahead without the talks, but with access to the computer labs,
with resident hardware and internet access, and the chance for people to
bring their own kit?

There is a wide range of experience amongst list subscribers, and the
more experienced expect specialist speakers to give talks which interest
them, but I suspect there are others who are new to Open Source software.
Are there many people who would have turned up despite the lack of talks?

I asked about access to the labs on this occasion, but was told that the
booking had been cancelled, so security staff will not allow access this
time.
