[Gllug] Linux on Dell 6400?

I may be totally misinformed,  but I have a sneaking suspicion that the version
of XP thats comes witha Dell machine i somehow 'keyed' to the machine,
either by some fancy BIOS call (to a Dell specific bios) or by reference to
a Dell 'diagnostic' partition on the hard disc.  In which case you can't use a
Dell supplied XP CD to load up windows on another machine ???
