Thermal problems are a possibility, although it was a P4 Celeron, and 
the CPU fan was spinning freely. TBH, after making sure the power 
supply was OK by running it from a UPS and seeing it still reboot, 
having changed the PSU, and eliminated a dodgy reset switch I gave up 
because there was an unused PC on the other side of the room, and the 
broken one is probably 3 years old.

If I'd have known that getting the replacement PC up and running was 
going to be as easy as shoving a disk in it and turning it on, I 
wouldn't have bothered with the half hour round trip to get a new power 
supply.
