[Gllug] Computer Froze - Need help with Diagnostics.

Hi
I got an aging Dell which I bought in 2000.
One of the fan is gone - the case fan (not the CPU one) ... I doubt it
would survive much longer had it been using WIndows (like the previous
machine to that, running Windows which exploded).
I like my machine, I can't afford another - or upgrade. But I fear
it's going to die soon :(
But maybe it was something else that caused the freeze?
I am not very good with this - so if I paste the messages log - will
it help me finding out what could have caused the freezing..
It is very rare the machine freezing
(unless I have Vmware and Win4Lin open, and Wine and 20 other apps opened)
But it froze with little on.
So I am concerned.
If someone could help me spot the flaw (apart from my bad admin
skills) -- I would be grateful: Any advice how to better fine-tune
things would be most welcome.
