I do no an outfit that is struggling to get developers, or even retain 
them when its got them. Despite offering top whack rates  for the Midlands.

Many of the younger talented programmers realise they can get more 
freelancing or being self employed.

Its understandable due to this governments stealth taxes. On PAYE you 
get to this barrier of around £25k (or whatever it is) then you are on 
the 40% higher rate.

With self employment and by forming your own limited company there is 
more scope to be a bit more creative, by offsetting expenses and paying 
yourself dividends etc..

I do think sysadmin work is very poorly paid especially in the 
ISP/Hosting/DC market in London where its more of a 24/7/365 lifestyle 
choice than a normal job. Bus driving would be more lucrative.
