The FSF has, in what may prove to be a spectacular own goal, decided to
deal with Debian's definition of "Free".
As things stand, Debian will ship non-Free blobs in "Etch". The FSF
distro won't do this.
As things stand, Debian will not ship GFDL material, because it's
non-Free. The FSF distro will probably do this.
Well, nothing like a good split.
