Not quite universal.  In Germany the Vic20 was called VC20.  IIRC they
feared people would pronounce the 'V' as an 'F' which would sound
rather rude.  Instead they adopted the 'VC' to mean 'Volkscomputer'
(people's computer) in line with e.g. Volkswagen.
