why not share your problems here on the list, and maybe someone can just 
tell you how to get on with it ?

Start with what hardware you are using, and what sort of a network it is 
that you are trying to setup and/or connect to. Also include details of 
what distro + version you are running. lots of help / tools for new 
stuff like wifi cards tends to be distro / version specific.
