I think I may have located the problem. /opt is showing a string
of ? marks where there should be permission/group/owner data. It seems
CentOS didn't install /opt properly. Do I assume this is a disk problem? If
so, I wonder why it only shows up under the / directory? These are brand new
WD Raptors.
