I'm not really sure is there an interactive boot mode? Perhaps by
hitting Esc, F1, F2, or i during boot? You might also be able to use
Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or some other F key?) and skip that bit with ctrl+c.
If that doesn't help you could boot off a live cd and get into your
system to reconfigure from there.
If rt61 is listed in /etc/modules you could comment it out and see if
that gets you booting properly again or perhaps blacklisting the
module in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist?
Have you also tried booting with the card plugged out?
If you get back into the system you might want to try configuring the
adapter step by step from the command line and try to get it working
without a password first.
